Windows
printer settings

Copy (or copy-to-printer) takes the same Image Settings as
File i.e. size, colour mode and detail (but minus the file format) and
sends the digital information from the original to any Windows printer as soon as the original exits
the scanner. Once Windows has started the copy
process the printer icon will appear in the System Tray in the lower
right corner of screen. Once this happens the copy is under
the control of Windows and SmartLF-All-One will redisplay to the
‘more-paper’ animation. All originals are
reproduced at 100% and no scaling is possible from the SmartLF
All-in-One software. To maintain a size-for-size reproduction
no automatic scaling should be set in the Windows printer driver.
It is important to set the Windows printer’s paper size large
enough (after allowing for the print margins) to accept the paper size
selected or automatically arrived at by the SmartLF All-in-One software.
Making the Windows print size smaller than the paper size set in
SmartLF-All-in-One will copy an area from the middle of the original
matching the size of the paper set in the Windows printer.
The scale will be the same.
Making the Windows print size much larger than the paper size set in
SmartLF-All-in-One will copy the original but depending on the Windows
printer paper size used will waste media between the SmartLF-All-in-One
paper size and the Windows printer paper size.
To avoid paper wastage by the Windows printer match the paper sizes or
configure a custom paper size in the printer large enough to accept
most copy sizes and enable the paper economy settings in the Windows
printer driver. These may appear as selections with a
description similar to the following:
- eliminate blank spaces at top and bottom of print
- rotate print to save paper
- conserve paper
- cut at ink limit
An example of setting the Canon iPF700 inkjet printer to work
in automatic output size mode. follows.
Using these settings SmartLF All-in-One software can be used in
automatic mode with any size of original copying to the printer with
minimum paper wastage i.e. no paper fed beyond the trailing edge of the
original (plus normal printer margins).
- Always make the Windows printer for
SmartLF All-in-One the default printer. Go to the Windows
control Panel, Printer and Faxes to make this change.
- Always make Windows printer driver changes that
you require to be long-term FROM THE
CONTROL PANEL e.g. paper
size.
NOTE:
This printer setup is black and white using plain paper (for
speed). See Main page below.

3.
The same printer's Page Setup page is as below:

The Custom Size paper size is set large
at 36" x 55" - big enough for most CAD drawings

4.
Make certain to activate paper saving options or massive
paper wastage may occur.
In this example the Layout tab shows
that 'Print Centred' and 'No spaces at Top or bottom of Paper'
have been checked.

Using these
settings it is possible to copy an A4 (landscape) and for the printer
to only use 220mm.
