Setting up the Hot Folder

1 How Hot folder works

2 Configuring Hot folder

The hot folder facility is designed to allow CopySmart to be used with wide format LED page printers having their own internal or external rasterizer or RIP (raster image processor) or any type of printing system which can use a TIFF file.  Hot folder works with all colour formats.  In other words it will work with a colour laser printer or large format colour RIP system of the type used to print posters and other specialist jobs.

3 Changing the type of data output to the Hot Folder file

First click the Printer calibration i button (right). This will open the Printer Setup box. The Printer Settings should already show Tiff Hot Folder as the configured printer.

To the right of the Current Printer Settings information area click the configuration symbol to open the Tiff Properties box.  See below.

The Tiff Properties box has 3 file format options:

Output sRGB

This outputs the scan data from the copying process already corrected to the sRGB profile. All colours will fall inside the sRGB colour space.  The sRGB profile is not attached to the output file or embedded in it for processing by the viewing application.

Use where files are primarily for viewing on a
monitor.

Embed input profile in Tiff

This outputs raw scan data with the SmartLF scanner profile embedded (built into the file header).  This means that viewing applications not able to interpret an embedded profile will view the file in the same way they would view a non-profiled scan file.  Only specialist viewing applications like Photoshop will normally do this. All RIPs (raster image processors) will take account of an embedded profile - it's what they do.

Use for RIPs where colour accuracy is important

Raw scan data

This outputs scan data from the copying process without converting it to an sRGB colour space or embedding a colour profile into it.  Use for printing with LED black and white printers or where colour accuracy is not important or needed.
