SmartLF to meet customer need

Anthony Lamb, Scanning Project Manager at Capita Contact & Document Services, explains the company's involvement with Colortrac; "We work across the public and private sector and have a strong focus on electronic mailroom and document management solutions. An example of where we have employed Colortrac is with a local authority customer who wanted documents available electronically. As well as improving efficiency this process also released the floor space occupied by their documents as these were removed from the site, scanned and stored securely. We could handle most of the documents because we had a full complement of automatic feed high-speed scanners for sizes up to A3. However, to meet the customer's need, we had to be able to scan documents of A2 size and above."

An out-of-the box solution

Anthony recalls, "We looked at several large format scanners and eventually chose the SmartLF." He points out, "This was an out-of-the box solution. Colortrac supplied us with an ISIS® specification driver so it could integrate the SmartLF with our document management system." Capita sourced the SmartLF through ImagingXtra who were in turn supplied by Allied Images, Colortrac's UK distributor.

An effective and affordable solution

Anthony reports, "Having the SmartLF allows us to offer a full range of document management services, extending the traditional bureau offering to full size A0 drawings. We can now scan across the whole document management spectrum." He concludes, "Colortrac are recognised as leaders in the A0 market and the SmartLF is an effective and affordable solution. Since we have made this investment, we've processed thousands of large format documents. We will now roll out the service to other customers and are already talking to a number of customers about their large scale scanning needs."
