Colortrac's Managing Director, Graham Tinn, says, "Our move to a new corporate head office marks another significant milestone in the development of Colortrac Ltd and vindicates our unique two-pronged "SmartLF" CCD (Charge Coupled Device) and CIS (Contact Image Sensor) dual product design and manufacturing strategy".
Colortrac is currently the only wide format scanner manufacturer to offer a choice of image capture, either CCD and CIS technology. While other scanner manufacturers sell one technology and denounce the other as unfit for purpose, Colortrac and its worldwide distributors are the only suppliers able to offer customers objective advice on the merits of both systems for the application in hand.
"The growth in Colortrac wide format scanner shipments shows the increased market share achieved by our competitive products, the expansion of our distribution channels and sales territories and our development of new markets for wide format scanning and copying among customers who previously could not justify the investment required" says Tinn.
"Colortrac will continue to invest in the future and R&D, hiring additional staff for our new office and developing new products with which we can expand the market for our SmartLF wide format scanning and copying applications in 2008."
Colortrac's sales growth and the need to move to larger premises is the result of their runaway success in creating a new market for affordable entry professional scanners that offer the benefits of price and performance. Starting in 2004 with the release of the ground breaking SmartLF 4080 series, the world's first competitively priced color wide format scanner, Colortrac has enjoyed huge success with the 4080's successor, the SmartLF Cx 40 range of 40", 600 dpi optical resolution CIS scanners.
In 2007 the new SmartLF Gx series of CCD 25" and 42" color scanners were released. The SmartLF Gx series was the first to use 1200 dpi optical technology. Other new SmartLF products are now in the pipeline, all promising even greater technical innovation.
Besides end-users attracted by price and performance, the distribution channels has also been quick to endorse Colortrac's consistent "no spin" product message based on the SmartLF's combination of high technical specifications, robust performance and attractive price. Besides selling a popular wide format scanner, many Colortrac SmartLF distributors and resellers see an advantage in sourcing complimentary CCD and CIS scanners and software from a single supportive source that sees positives benefits in both technologies.
Peter de Winter-Brown, Colortrac's Sales & Marketing Director, says "Because Colortrac resellers offer both a CIS and CCD scanner solution they can in all honestly sell the one that's best for the customer. Unlike other large format scanner manufacturers who are committed to selling one imaging technology only and who have nothing good to say of the rival technology, Colortrac is uniquely able to give the buyer the best scanner for their needs and budget. This has created the sales which now force our relocation.
"Fortunately, uniting all Colortrac Ltd UK staff in a single facility has long been a goal of the Colortrac executive. We are delighted in having our relocation forced upon us by the growth in our business and also to have at last found premises that ideally suit us. We believe this move will provide immediate payback to our business performance in terms of improved staff communication, operational quality, efficiency and morale. Colortrac's internal improvements will ultimately convert into a better service for our customers.
New Colortrac logo
"As a consequence of this move we had to reprint our office letterheads and associated stationary, etc. The moving presented us with an opportunity to review the Colortrac logo in the light of our recent sales successes. The old logo was introduced in 1998 when our focus was on R&D and creating the technology to get us to where we are today, rather than on the finer aspects of corporate branding. Our aim with the updated logo is to reflect the impact Colortrac has in the market today in a distinctive and interesting way".
