A sincere
thank you goes out to each and every Colortrac distributor this year for
making this month the most successful scanner sales December ever in Colortrac's
18 year history.
After a nervous and slow beginning to the month sales began to grow steadily
passing the previous best December record and orders are still coming in
(Tuesday 18th)! A really fantastic result considering the variable
economic climates worldwide. Well done everybody!
The
best ever December for Colortrac scanner sales!

KURABO Industries
Ltd, Osaka, Japan signed a distribution agreement to sell SmartLF Gx CCD
and Cx CIS based scanners back in November and have already successfully
exhibited them at a show in Tokyo. Interest was very high and we hope
that this is the beginning of a strong and renewed partnership with our
old friends at KURABO.
Colortrac's products were subjected to a series of tough qualification checks
by KURABO's engineers before the contract was signed.
Fuji-san, General Manager of the Colour Imaging Division of KURABO is seen
here shaking hands with Colortrac's Colin White.
As some
of you may have read in the Colortrac Blog certain SmartLF owners have been
using their scanners with Apple Macintosh computers - even MacBooks!
It would appear that the new OSX 10.5 or higher operating systems from Apple
and those running Intel chipsets can support ScanWorks, SmartLF All-in-One
and CopySmart applications. There doesn't appear to be speed penalties
and scanner operation was is good, even better than with regular Windows
pcs in some cases.
So far we have heard about 2 products that can run SmartLF on Mac hardware
- Parallels from SWsoft and Fusion from VMWare. VMWare also
produce a product that runs on Linux to provide a Windows hosting environment
which could be useful for some customers. Note that in some cases
these products need a Windows licence to run SmartLF applications as the
products themselves do not always emulate Windows but instead provide a
pc-like environment for Windows to load into. Please note that Colortrac
reminds any dealer/ distributor or customer that connection of a SmartLF
scanner to any computer other than a normal Windows computer is made at
their own risk and doing so could invalidate the scanner warranty.
Colortrac only supports Windows computers and Windows operating systems.
