Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays!
Colortrac wishes its users, resellers and distributors a Joyful Festive Season - and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
If the measure of success is in new resellers, sales, awards and innovation, then 2009 was our best year ever, despite the economy.
2009 ends with more SmartLF users, resellers and distributors; strong sales growth in AEC, CAD, GIS, EDM and professional color graphics; new products with innovative features and applications unique to Colortrac, like ISIS; and SmartLF wide format scanners, both CIS and CCD models, rated the "Best in Class" by BERTL, the independent testing authority.
As a large format scanner manufacturer with 20 years commitment to innovation and the delivery of affordable price and performance, it's exceedingly gratifying to close 2009 knowing that BERTL now rate Colortrac SmartLF large format scanners as "Best in Class!"
We won't be resting on our laurels. 2010 will see Colortrac's search for perfection continue with the release of new, improved, more productive versions of our industry-leading, "Best of the Best" scanning solutions. We look forward to you joining us in our adventure and making 2010 your most successful and prosperous year in wide format scanning.
ESRI User Conference (EUC)

The ability of Colortrac large format scanners to accurately capture the finest details of maps has seen sales grow in the global GIS market.
ESRI is a hugely influential GIS software solutions supplier, so big that it has its own show. The San Diego EUC is the biggest GIS conference worldwide. Over 12,000 people attended ESRI San Diego in 2009.
In order to increase worldwide awareness of the suitability of SmartLF large format scanners as professional GIS scanning solutions, Colortrac has enrolled as an ESRI Complimentary Technology Provider. We are investing in new portable pop-up displays and banners for these and other future events.
During 2010, Colortrac will be attending EUCs in the USA and Europe. Make a note in your diary.

RED HOT NEWSFLASH!
BERTL rate Colortrac SmartLF scanners "BEST IN CLASS"
Last week, we reported that Colortrac had become the first large format scanner manufacturer to achieve a BERTL (Business Equipment Research Testing Labs) 4.5 Star "OUTSTANDING" rating for both CCD (Gx+ T42) and CIS (Ci 40) wide format scanners.
Now, in a surprise new announcement, BERTL has upgraded its rating for the Colortrac SmartLF Gx+ T42 and SmartLF Ci 40 scanners to "Best in Class". BERTL believe these SmartLF scanners are significantly better than all other devices in the same class i.e. 42" wide CCD Graphics and 40+" wide CIS scanners!

ISIS for EDM
An image capture standard unique to Colortrac in large format scanning

The ISIS standard is widely used in EDM (Electronic Document Management) because, unlike TWAIN, it guarantees reliable data transfer between a scanner and EDM image acquistion software. At present, only SmartLF wide format scanners support ISIS.

The SmartLF Ci 40e large format scanner has received full ISIS (Image and Scanner Interface Specification) certification from EMC Captiva, the specifier and regulator of the ISIS standard. All other SmartLF large format scanners have proven and reliable support for ISIS but are not yet certfied. Many SmartLF users already use this proven ISIS scanning solution to maximize their scan-to-EDC productivity.
ISIS Driver Availability
Previously SmartLF ISIS drivers were free on request. This policy has now changed.

ETHERNET 1000 CONNECTIVITY
SmartLF Gx+ and Ci wide format scanners have considerable benefits, many unique to Colortrac. One benefit that professional users find attractive is the embedded Ethernet 1000 connectivity. (USB 2.0 is supported as well).
Fast gigabit Ethernet connectivity offers a flexible, high bandwidth solution suited to anyone running a professional network. It offers users the ability to grow to a full 1000Mbps capacity in future if they are currently running at a lower 100Mbps or slower. Gigabit Ethernet network connectivity is the fastest available.
The Bottom Line is that with a SmartLF Gx+ and Ci wide format scanner, you can scan at speed to any selected PC or printer across the office network. Professional Ethernet 1000 connectivity is not something our rivals offer!
OFFICES & PEOPLE
Colortrac celebrate 15 years of success with Macron GmbH.
Colortrac values its relationships. The 15 year partnership with Macron in Germany is one of Colortrac's longest and most fruitful. Long, close and loyal partnerships are the backbone of Colortrac's position in the market.
From L to R: Harm Reimers, Geschäftsführer; Peter Sandberg, Colortrac EMEA Manager; Heike Kutning; Manuela Fuchs; Peter de Winter Brown, Colortrac Sales & Marketing Director; Michael Nawroth, Leiter Vertrieb.
Our loyal German distributor received two Colortrac awards. The first recognises our long association with Macron; the second is for achieving the greatest growth in sales among our distributors during the financial year 2008 - 2009. Thanks to strong distributors like Macron - and others - Colortrac is doing very well, exceeding budget despite the economic difficulties seen in some parts of the world.
Well done, Macron! "Gut gemacht!"
Three Lions in Africa: Applied Imaging, Canon and Colortrac.
Colortrac was invited by its South African distributor, Johannesburg-based Applied Imaging Solutions, to attend a launch event signalling its close co-operation with Canon SA. Like many Colortrac distributors, Applied Imaging sees price and performance benefits in the marriage of Colortrac scanners with Canon wide format printers.
From L to R: Jimmy de Waal, Applied Imaging's Sales Manager with Colortrac's Graham Vaughan and Peter Sandberg.
Previously Canon SA sourced Colortrac scanners direct from Canon Europe. Now, in order to improve service and support, Canon SA obtains Colortrac scanners directly from Applied Imaging who also provide training to Canon's sales and technical staff, as well as end users. This co-operation between Applied Imaging and Canon SA was celebrated with a launch attended by Peter Sandberg, Colortrac's Business Development Manager - EMEA. Peter described the event as "pretty cool".
Following the launch, Graham Vaughan, Colortrac's technical support engineer and training supervisor, gave service training to some 15 employees from Canon SA, including representatives from Botswana and Namibia. "Because they are all engineers, their level of competency is high," he said.
