The PDF/A-1 specification seeks to control and exclude the types of data which would make PDF files less suitable for long-term preservation and more dependant on external systems and software for printing and display. Data such as links, embedded audio or video, fonts or JavaScript are not consistent with this format and must be excluded from a format designed to be robust in the long-term.  Colortrac PDF scan files although composed of simple raster data and unlikely to present a problem decoding in the future do not currently comply with PDF/A ISO 19005-1 and should not be regarded as such.  Colortrac plans to offer PDF/A alongside the current PDF (1.3) format in its scanning products by the end of 2013.
